Annual Conference of the ESPON Contact Point Luxembourg : “The Territorial Dimension of the Protection of Biodiversity and of Nature”

Within the framework of the activities of the ESPON Contact Point (ECP) in Luxembourg, the Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg organized the annual conference of the ECP Luxembourg on 8 November 2022. You can find more information about the conference here.

20 Years of ESPON “Innovative evidence support for territorial policy-making - Perspectives for 2030”

The 20 years anniversary of ESPON was celebrated on 28 September 2022 in Luxembourg, where the ESPON Managing Authority and the ESPON EGTC are located. Further details about the event are available here.

 

ESPON Seminar in Lille and Prague

The “ESPON Seminar in Lille” under the French Presidency of the Council of the EU took place from 30 May to 1 June 2022 in a hybrid format. It provided an opportunity to discuss various topics such as the digital transition in public services, cultural heritage, sustainable transport etc. The “ESPON Seminar in Prague” was organized on 7-8 December under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU on the theme of entrepreneurial regional governance.

 

The Europe Day

The ECP for Luxembourg and the ESPON EGTC participated in the celebration of the Europe Day on 9 May 2022 in Esch-sur-Alzette, European City of Culture 2022. This provided an opportunity to inform the visitors of the ESPON stand about the programme and what it offers to Luxembourg.

Spatial Planning in Luxembourg

Luxembourg in Transition

The last phase of the international consultation Luxembourg in Transition brought together the four finalist teams who were asked to translate the transition scenarios that they had developed during the last two phases into concrete projects. These were presented to the Luxembourg press on 19 May 2022 at an event with the participation of more than 120 stakeholders of the consultation and other guests. "The Luxembourg in Transition process is now entering a new phase, that of implementation and concrete projects", announced Claude Turmes, Minister for Spatial Planning in Luxembourg.  You can find more details here.

Box „Did you know?“

The findings of the ESPON project “The World in Europe: Global FDI Flows towards Europe” indicate that the percentage of enterprises that are non-European owned is highest in Luxembourg among European countries and this is partly due to the fact that the country is a particularly attractive place for foreign investors to set up holding companies.
